Scottish Rite Adaptible Clothing Project
The Scottish Rite Adaptable Clothing Project saw students create clothing designs in collaboration with Scottish Rite Dallas to aid children receiving treatment for spina bifida and scoliosis. The project consisted of 4 groups of 5 that each worked on one ensemble that tackled different areas of adability when getting in and out of garments. My group designed and created this ensemble that consists of a magnetic zip hoodie and dual zip pants. The jacket features tabs that allow for the garment to be pulled on with low upper body mobility, and a magnetic zipper that allows for the jacket to be zipped up one handed. The pants feature dual zips that go all the way through the waist band down each leg and through the elastic ankle cuffs. This allows for ease of putting garments on with limited mobility and use of wheel chairs. Pull tabs are also continued from the jacket down to the bottoms. Each pocket features magnetic closures to make opening and closing easier, and button holes on the inside for colostomy bags and the tubes that accompany the bags. This project was completed with the help of Trinity Mendez-Alston, Amanda Rollins, Lisa Nambesa, and Karla Mata.
